37.6% of high school students living in protective facilities want to get a job right after graduation, according to a survey. This is about five times higher than the figure for general adolescents (7.4%). Facility-dwelling youth had lower academic performance than general adolescents, and their private education participation rate and average monthly cost were also at one-third the level. In particular, math and English scores were low, which is analyzed to be related to a lack of private education opportunities. The research team suggested that it is necessary to use learning materials tailored to individual levels to improve the basic academic abilities of facility-dwelling youth.
