Shincheonji leader Man-hee Lee and eight former and current executives have been indicted on charges of forcibly enrolling members in the People Power Party. Prosecutors allege that Shincheonji enrolled at least 56,000 followers in the People Power Party under the guise of projects such as the "Pilates Project" from 2021 to 2024, and determined that violations of the Political Funds Act occurred during this process. The leader is suspected of having forced membership for the purpose of building a "political network" for the religious group, and former and current executives are also alleged to have participated in the crime organizationally. Prosecutors plan to continue investigating other suspicious matters related to Shincheonji, such as tax evasion.
