This year's first-half industrial accident fatalities totaled 253, a decrease of 34 compared to the same period last year, marking an all-time low. In particular, a significant reduction in fatalities was observed at small workplaces with fewer than five employees. This is analyzed as a result of the government's strengthened preventive supervision and cooperation with local governments. On the other hand, manufacturing saw an increase in industrial accident fatalities due to incidents such as the Daejeon Safety Industrial fire and the Hanwha Aerospace explosion. The government plans to implement policies in the second half aimed at preventing falls and reducing fire and explosion accidents in the manufacturing industry.
