The arrest warrants for former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung and former Prosecutor General Jeon Moo-gon have been rejected. Although arrest warrants were requested for the two on suspicion of involvement in sedition related to the 12·3 emergency martial law and abuse of authority regarding the abandonment of immediate appeals, they were rejected on the grounds of insufficient concerns about evidence destruction or flight risk. This rejection is expected to intensify criticism of the special investigation team's investigative capabilities. Notably, as arrest warrant requests were repeatedly rejected toward the end of the investigation deadline, the justification for a 'third extension request' has also been undermined. The special investigation team has requested the National Assembly to extend the special investigation law to prolong the investigation period ending on the 24th.
