Actress Lee Hye-young has set a record by appearing in the French reading performance "Bird" based on Han Kang's novel "Don't Say Goodbye," becoming the first Korean to perform at the Papal Honor Theater stage of the Avignon Festival. Lee Hye-young took on the role of In-seon, a carpenter in the novel, at the suggestion of the director and prepared for a year while studying French. The performance was held with author Han Kang and French actress Isabelle Huppert, and received enthusiastic responses from the audience. Lee Hye-young did her best for Korean audiences, and "Bird" will have a domestic performance at the Seoul International Performing Arts Festival in October.
