World No. 1 baduk player Shin Jin-seo 9 dan lost to KataGo, the current highest level baduk AI, in the 3rd game of the 1st match of the SennSuhak·Hankyeong Godin Tournament. Shin Jin-seo started with a 2-point approach, but was bewildered by KataGo's unorthodox moves and lost his advantage in the middle game. In particular, KataGo effectively blocked Shin Jin-seo's attacks and eventually won. After the defeat, Shin Jin-seo said, "I was surprised by the white's second move, which I had never seen before," and expressed his determination to "fight until the end in the remaining two games." The 2nd game will be held on the 19th.
