Last year, the manufacturing sector accounted for 27.2% of South Korea's GDP, the highest level in the past decade. In particular, the share of computers, electronics and optical instruments centered on semiconductors increased significantly to 37.4%, taking a dominant position within the manufacturing industry. This shows that the Korean economy is still manufacturing-centered, with a high dependence on semiconductors. According to OECD member countries, Korea's manufacturing sector accounts for 27.4% of GDP, the second highest after Ireland. If the upward trend in semiconductor prices continues, it is expected that the growth of the manufacturing industry centered on semiconductors will continue this year as well.
