Microsoft announced that it will sequentially release new builds containing updated certificates due to the expiration of the code signing certificate used for Windows Insider Preview builds on August 11, 2026. The company explained that this measure is a regular and planned check rather than a response to security issues.

This update expands the scope of application to include not only the Canary channel but also the Experimental and Beta channels. Each channel must use a minimum build specified to receive the updated certificate, and the corresponding minimum build number will be updated later.

Regardless of the channel, Windows Insider users need to install the Insider Preview released on August 1st, Korean time, through Windows Update. If you do not install the update build before August 11, 2026, a certificate expiration notification will be displayed and some functions may be interrupted.

Installing the update build will return your device to the normal update path without any loss of apps, files, or settings, just like a regular update.
