Apple Likely to Redesign iPad Air Early Next Year with OLED Display
...

MacRumors reported on July 31 (local time) that Apple will change the design of the iPad Air in 2027.

The iPad Air has maintained the same design since the fourth-generation model in 2020. While it has been updated from the M1 to the M4 chip, the design has remained untouched. As a result, it is the longest-running model in the iPad lineup with the same design.

The new iPad Air model expected to be released next year will likely adopt a single-layer LTPS panel supplied by Samsung Display. This panel has lower specifications than the tandem OLED used in the iPad Pro, both in terms of cost and brightness.

There are also rumors that it will be equipped with an M5 chip. If this rumor is true, it will be the biggest change to the iPad Air lineup in years.

MacRumors stated, "Such a major upgrade could be the perfect opportunity to completely redesign the design." In fact, Apple redesigned the iPad Pro for the first time since 2018 when it adopted OLED in 2024.

News of the iPad mini expected to be released in October is further fueling this speculation. Foreign media outlets report that the iPad mini 8, scheduled for release in October, has a high possibility of undergoing a complete design overhaul, including an OLED display, a vibration-based speaker system that eliminates speaker holes, and a waterproof casing.
