Recently, 12 North Korean wooden mines were found off the coast of Ganghwa County, Incheon. The mines, presumed to have been washed away by heavy rain, appear to have drifted along the current to the coast of Ganghwa Island. With the increase in coastal tourists during the holiday season, there is a possibility of additional mine inflow, and the military and local governments are working hard on safety management. The Marine Corps is conducting mine search operations centered around major beaches, and Ganghwa County is installing safety guidance banners at coastal tourist attractions and conducting safety promotions. Suspicious objects should not be touched and reported immediately.
