The tariff will also apply to polysilicon ingots and wafers, and a minimum import price has also been set. This measure was taken under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act and will come into effect on December 4th. President Trump emphasized that polysilicon is a key material for the semiconductor and solar industries, and stated that this measure will contribute to the reconstruction of the US polysilicon industry.
