The People Power Party's Central Ethics Committee has initiated disciplinary proceedings against lawmakers Se Bum-su and Jin Jong-o, who sparked controversy with their "kickback" remarks at a National Assembly consultative meeting on the abolition of the prosecution's supplementary investigative powers. Rep. Seo said to Rep. Jin Jong-o at the meeting, "Kick it back once," and Rep. Jin responded with the controversial statement, "I use my hands better than my feet." As a result, disciplinary petitions were submitted by the heads of the party's external affairs and cooperation committee. In addition, the Ethics Committee sent written questionnaires to lawmakers Jo Kyung-tae, Kwon Young-jin, and Jin Jong-o, for whom disciplinary proceedings were initiated last month, in order to investigate the facts of the case. These lawmakers were accused of improper conduct during the process of electing the opposition party's National Assembly vice chairman, supporting candidates in by-elections, and allocating standing committees.
