Google will stop the Google Assistant service on millions of Android devices starting September 4, 2026. This shutdown will be done gradually and includes smartphones, tablets, Wear OS smartwatches, headphones, earbuds, and vehicles with Android Auto. Users are advised to switch to the AI Gemini app which will replace Google Assistant. Gemini offers broader capabilities such as answering complex questions and helping create content, while also supporting basic Google Assistant functions. Cars with Google built-in systems will still support Google Assistant for a while.
