Due to the recent heat wave, professional baseball games have been canceled consecutively, and the KBO League is seeking a 'new normal'. The KBO, prioritizing the safety of players and spectators, has canceled all games from the 5th to the 9th, and will fix the game time to 7 PM from the 11th, while establishing 'cooling breaks' in the 3rd and 7th innings. As a long-term solution, it is considering reinforcing facilities and introducing personal cooling manuals for players by referring to heat countermeasures of professional baseball leagues in the US and Japan. However, fundamental solutions such as reducing the number of games are facing difficulties due to issues related to broadcasting rights revenue and player salaries. Although the opening of dome stadiums like Incheon Cheongra Dome in 2028 and Seoul Jamsil Dome in 2032 is scheduled, it is urgent to come up with measures to overcome the heat until then.
