Online investment-linked financial companies (on-line investment linked financial company) are finding opportunities in savings bank-linked high-interest personal loans as existing products such as housing mortgage loans and stock loans face difficulties due to regulations by financial authorities. As of the end of July, the outstanding balance of savings bank-linked loans by on-line investment linked financial companies exceeded 500 billion won for the first time, and the cumulative transaction amount increased by about 48 times compared to last July. This is because on-line investment linked financial companies are seeking new sources of income, and savings banks have a growing need to expand high-interest loans and are promoting diversification of loan channels. However, the new source of income for the on-line investment linked financial industry is not yet at a level that can be considered a sufficient alternative, and only half of the savings banks designated as innovative financial services are participating. The on-line investment linked financial industry plans to expand its linked targets to include lending next year, but the financial authorities are still reviewing it.
