Comedian-turned-YouTuber Kwon Young-chan has been accused of defamation by actor Kim Soo-hyun. Kwon claimed on his YouTube channel that Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor at the time, and even engaged in sexual intercourse. As a result, Kim Soo-hyun's fans filed a defamation complaint against Kwon and others who made similar claims about Kim Soo-hyun. Police determined that some of Kwon's statements constituted defamation and referred the case to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, while others were not prosecuted. Kwon argued that he was explaining general grooming techniques, not referring to the specific case of Kim Soo-hyun and the deceased, and claimed to have added a disclaimer stating "This is not the story of Kim Soo-hyun and the deceased" to each video.
