A total of 2,343,000 people applied during the initial recruitment period for Youth Future Savings Accounts, and 1,385,000 of them ultimately joined. Those aged 25 to 29 made up the largest group of participants, with most joining as general or preferential account holders. The main reasons for failing to pass the screening were primarily a lack of consent for verification of household income information or non-submission of documents. Reflecting the high demand for participation, the Financial Services Commission and the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives plan to operate an additional enrollment period in September. Youth Future Savings Accounts are 3-year maturity free savings products that allow young people aged 19 to 34 to freely deposit up to 500,000 won per month.
