According to a study by the Bank of Korea, youth employment has been rapidly declining in industries with high AI exposure over the past four years. In particular, a significant decrease in youth employment has been observed in industries such as information services and publishing. On the other hand, jobs for those in their 50s are on an upward trend, with a higher proportion of increases in AI-exposed industries. As AI replaces repetitive tasks, it has a greater impact on young people. In addition, the unemployment rate for college graduates is rising compared to that of youth with lower education levels. The outflow of young workers in AI-exposed industries is increasing while the inflow is decreasing. The Bank of Korea pointed out that the employment impact varies depending on how AI is used and emphasized the need to create an environment where young people can build new careers by utilizing AI.
