Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to meet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Vladivostok at the beginning of September. In a letter congratulating Indonesia on its 81st Independence Day, Putin praised Indonesia's achievements in the economic and social fields as well as the continuously developing bilateral relations between the two countries. Putin emphasized Russia's commitment to expanding strategic partnership with Indonesia through bilateral and international forums such as BRICS and the Russia-ASEAN Dialogue. The meeting is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of their people and regional stability. Previously, Prabowo met Putin in Moscow in April 2026 to discuss cooperation in the energy sector.
