The United States has announced new economic sanctions against Iran to stop its nuclear and missile development, cyberattacks, and support for terrorism. These sanctions are stronger than previous ones, prohibiting not only person-to-person transfers but also blocking academic and sports exchanges. The United States aims to prevent Iran from circumventing sanctions through trade or weapons development by imposing "secondary sanctions" on other countries that do business with Iran. Additionally, over 60 entities and individuals, including organizations under the Iranian Ministry of Defense, cyberattack groups within the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, and intermediaries for Iranian crude oil, have been newly designated as targets for sanctions.
