This is constantly controversial.. I received the latest government response.
I inquired multiple times in the past, but the answers kept changing. (Frustrating administration)
Although bicycle paths and pedestrian paths are separated, people thought it was okay to use them interchangeably since they're shared paths..
This is a misinterpretation. You have to use them separately.. that's what it was. But there were also people who insisted you could use them together the whole way..
I explained it multiple times..
Last year or so, there were people insisting again, so I inquired once more to confirm... and they answered that pedestrians can also use the bicycle path... ??
This was different from the answer I received in the past, so to request reconsideration
when I called, they didn't answer, so I just dropped it, but recently I saw another post with similar content, so I inquired again.
Previously, I received a response that pedestrians can use the bicycle path... So then, can bicycles also use the pedestrian path??
I asked by applying it in reverse.
The answer changed this time too.
Pedestrians use pedestrian paths, bicycles use bicycle paths. They said the Road Traffic Act naturally applies.
However, since bicycles are vehicles with a duty to protect pedestrians, even if pedestrians are on the bicycle path, bicycles must slow down and stop temporarily. (That's obvious, right?)
And regarding the much-debated safe speed, since there's no mandatory regulation, they are advising to operate at 20 km/h or less.
I think they're making it more confusing by occasionally giving strange answers.
Soon, when I have time, I'll call the official in charge to ask about safety-related inquiries and request improvements again.
If you have any personal questions, I'll answer them, and if I don't know, we'll inquire together.
