Y1RS test riding review

I picked up the Y1RS yesterday, got it fitted today, and took it out for a test ride covering about 70~80km.
The route was from the Haengju Fortress cycling path, rode through there, went to Imjingak, and came back home on public roads.
Since there are many variables depending on the setup, I'll list the main specs first.

Wheels: WheelLab Project V7780
Tires: Continental 5000s tr 25mm
Total weight: 7.2~7.3kg

Comparison bike: Cervélo S5 2025 model + WheelLab Project V65, same tires. Similar weight. This is what I was riding before.

The wind on the course was a strong headwind both ways.
So the buckwheat noodles I had for lunch ran out pretty quick;;
Anyway...
This course consists of nice flat sections for cruising and steep climbs that are good for interval dancing.

Compared to the S5,
The aero performance is top-tier just like the open-source data suggests, but compared to the S5 which is the true top dog, it's a tiny bit lacking.
So if the S5 feels like it just glides smoothly when you give it a little push,
The Y1RS feels more like a 'thump' rather than a 'tap'?

I had set it up after checking the open-source data beforehand,
And that slightly lower aero performance has been compensated by the 80mm wheelset.
So throughout the ride in the headwind, at around 180~210w for my 60kg body weight, I consistently maintained 31~33 km/h.

When doing interval dancing, instead of that sharp explosive feeling when you push down, it's more like a smooth 'oomph!'...
In other words, it becomes a smooth and elegant kind of dancing that's hard to describe in words.
I'm not sure if I should call it a lack of stiffness, but the power numbers on the power meter do seem to translate directly into speed.

With just the frame, it's not quite at the absolute top, but it feels like it's right up there.
The 80mm wheelset compensates well for the frame's shortcomings.

After all, Colnago is about riding like royalty rather than raw performance, right?
Very satisfied.

+ Since some people have asked about the SRM power meter, I'm adding some extra comments. It's slightly heavier than the SRAM Red crankset. Still, true to the company that invented the power meter, the numbers never suddenly spiked during the ride, and the connection never dropped. Wow, integration with Garmin works great too.
