Gapyeong Gran that used to start at 8 every year.
Since it's an early starting race, the departure train time was ambiguous, but this year it was delayed to 9 o'clock, so there's more flexibility with train schedules.
But since we're leaving later, it will get hotter, and the return trip will be more difficult, so this year I participated in the medium distance.
Actually, I was also thinking about setting a personal record on Tomachijae.
I also visited Manhang Pass during the early May holidays, and I thought Hwaaak Mountain would be an easy climb.
But Hwaaak is Hwaaak ㅠ
First of all, there's no shade, so the entire climb is under the blazing sun, and since it's a medium distance start, there are many people, making the uphills feel even more difficult.
This is my third year participating in Gapyeong, and you can feel how the road surface of the Hwaaak downhill gets worse each year.
Thanks to the organizers deployed in dangerous sections and volunteer riders who came out, we still manage to get through safely.
After getting over Hwaaak and moving to Tomachijae, it's much easier.
At the Tomachijae summit aid station, there were only about 5 participants... haha, everyone must have gone to the Gran.
Originally, the Tomachijae downhill is a section where you can have fun and go fast,
This section's road surface has also deteriorated.
On top of that, it looks like some construction is planned soon, as they've cut the asphalt. It will probably be finished with temporary paving, but the road surface will likely get worse.
(From the midpoint, they've shifted to the opposite lane and construction is already underway)
At the stadium, the marketplace with food prepared by the village and the 'solicitation' from the aunties is in full swing ^^ Actually, you get a medal just by finishing the race, but after putting on the medal and going to eat noodles, I guess they thought I had won an award haha
The weather was clear and nice, but the wind was quite unusual, so those who went to the Gran will probably have some difficulties. In any case, I hope everyone completes the race safely and has a comfortable return trip.
