When I was young, I rode bikes a lot in my neighborhood, and in college, I rode bikes for a nationwide tour.
With a heart that truly loved bicycles
After turning 38 and having some financial comfort, I started road cycling in September last year.
After that, I didn't actually go to club meetings, just looked at routes
and enjoyed riding alone, just looking at photos.
And then somehow last week I participated in my first gran fondo, the Jinan Gran Fondo,
As expected, the world is wide, there are many monsters, and really many good bicycles.
I wasn't even thinking about finishing the race safely, just looking at the bicycles people were riding
and my eyes were turning around and I just wanted to upgrade my bike more.
So I started, and the course was so good that even with a little pedal power, whoosh~
I felt so good, I wondered how far I'd come, and I'd already passed the 60km mark.
Since I'd never done pack riding, I continued alone enjoying the spring scents and stopped at an aid station
and stuffed in energy gels and hot breaks.
Before I knew it, I was in front of the KOM start.
Because I live in Busan, I only looked at the gpx file and was very confident about the uphill sections,
but sure enough, at a point close to 100km, the uphills regardless of gradient
were annoying and tiring..
I can't believe I rode 120km after all those ups and downs, just like that gran fondo
ended. I thought I rode very enjoyably,
but people say it was on the easier side lol, I wish I had done better...
When I checked my record today, it shows 4 hours and 15 minutes.
Is this a decent level?
I don't have anyone around me to ride with, so I don't have anyone to compare to..
Well, I can't even know the rankings.. I ride 1-2 times a month, so it's unlikely I'm in the top,
and watching the other monsters ride today, I should work hard too.
