Enjoyable riding with good weather.
I'm a grandfather having great weather adventures with my granddaughter.^^
One day in 2004,
I wanted to go to India.
I bought a Lonely Planet and highlighted it
and prepared for the trip.
With my two elementary school sons
and my wife,
each carrying a backpack, we suddenly set off to India.
In New Delhi we got scammed—the bus had no air conditioning and broken doors
After 18 hours on that bus, we arrived in Manali.
Where the Himalayas were visible, a place whose name seemed so unfamiliar then—
Manali in Himachal Pradesh.
Our destination was to depart from Manali, go through Leh, and reach Jammu-Srinagar.
But unfortunately, the road from Leh to Srinagar
had been restricted due to the Srinagar houseboat hotel terror attack that occurred recently,
so we had to settle for just departing Manali and reaching the 4000-meter Rohtang Pass.
(Surprisingly, the children were also susceptible to high altitude.)
As we climbed Rohtang Pass by bus like that,
we encountered a sight that would become a turning point in life.
It was the sight of cyclists.
On that quiet road,
a group of young people on bicycles were climbing up.
Heading to Leh.
My goodness...
This place is at 4000 meters?
And Leh is beyond 5300 meters?
What romance... what beauty...
Wait?
Yes!! That's it. Bicycles.
As soon as I got back,
I bought the GT bike they used to ride.
The most efficient means of travel, powered solely by human power. A bicycle.
How romantic it was.
And so, into the mountains, up the mountains
We rode hard.
After riding for 3-4 years, I got into mountain biking...
But the heavier it got, the less fun it became
And something started to feel lacking.
What was it?
It was the yearning for wandering, roaming, a carefree life~~
That initial feeling.
So, I'm getting a Merida road bike 880.
My first destination is the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range.
Departing from Yeongju, passing by Buseoksa Temple and over Maguling Pass
To Danyang in Chungcheong Province.
Passing through Danyang, I rode hard along the riverside of Yeongwol
To Jeongseon.
Riding leisurely along Donggang River and Auraji in Jeongseon,
This is the ultimate romance.
I experienced a feeling of romance overflowing and exploding.
Yes, this is it.
And after seeing the 2008 Tour de France through Cavendish's missile,
My entry into road cycling was
a time of the fastest mode of travel + a lethal dose of romance.
That's how my bicycle became a friend who has been with me for 22 years.
Yesterday, I oiled my Smart Lora
and touched it while oiling,
Although its shape has changed a lot over 22 years,
the excitement hasn't changed at all compared to 20 years ago.
Where in the world can you find a friend like this.^^
Looking back at the Goseong Gran Fondo
The oldest participant was 79 years old.
I have to try a little harder than him.^^
You shouldn't get hurt, right?
So!!
Always ride safely.
How did you all start?
