'High School Girl Murderer' Jang Yoon-gi admitted to committing sexual crimes two months after the crime. Through additional evidence such as black box footage, Jang Yoon-gi confessed that he attempted to sexually assault victim Lee Chae-won, a high school girl, and killed her with a weapon when she resisted. The victim's side argued that Jang Yoon-gi's remorse was intended for sentence reduction and demanded the maximum penalty of death. Jang Yoon-gi is also accused of threatening a second-year male student with a weapon and stalking and sexually assaulting a female part-time colleague. Controversy arose during the investigation as suspicions were raised about evidence tampering and leakage of investigative secrets by Jang Yoon-gi's father, who was an active police officer at the time of the crime.
