The five major financial holding companies (KB, Shinhan, Hana, Woori, and NH Nonghyup) recorded a record high net income of 13 trillion won in the first half of this year. Stock market boom led to a significant increase in non-interest income, and rising interest rates also expanded interest income. Second quarter net income also reached a record high of 6.9201 trillion won, with KB Financial and Shinhan Financial achieving record highs in both half-year and quarterly earnings. The five major financial holding companies plan to expand shareholder returns based on their performance. KB Financial decided on share buybacks and cancellations, Shinhan Financial decided on additional share buybacks, Hana Financial decided on quarterly cash dividends and share buybacks and cancellations. Woori Financial also plans to conduct share buybacks and cancellations in the second half of the year.
