Over the past 10 years, the high-risk drinking rate among Korean men has decreased in all age groups, but for women, the high-risk drinking rate has increased in those aged 30 and over. In particular, the high-risk drinking rate among men in their 20s decreased by 41.6%, while that of women in their 30s increased by 19.1%. The monthly drinking rate of Korean adults is 57.1%, which ranks fifth among OECD countries, and the high-risk drinking rate was highest in Gangwon Province. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emphasized the need to implement customized alcohol prevention policies tailored to regional characteristics.
