The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee passed an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act led by the Democratic Party of Korea to abolish the supplementary investigative power of prosecutors and allow judicial police officers to request supplementary investigations. This amendment includes provisions for expanding victim protection, digitizing all investigation process data, and obligating prosecutors to maintain objectivity and neutrality in the indictment and prosecution process. The People Power Party boycotted the proceedings and abstained from voting, claiming that the Democratic Party had unilaterally proceeded with the bill. The opposition party expects that not only this amendment but also the amendment to the National Assembly Act for shortening the fast-track period will be railroaded, and announced that it will issue a state of emergency alert for three days and stage a filibuster.
