Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings held in Manila, Philippines. They discussed expanding cooperation in the fields of environment, marine aquaculture, and energy transition. Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation through the introduction of sustainable aquaculture technologies and advanced management techniques.
They also explored collaboration on energy transition, including support for energy and fertilizer self-sufficiency, as well as investment, innovation, and technology development cooperation. Sugiono emphasized the need to evaluate the achievements of forest conservation cooperation and proposed collaboration in forest monitoring using satellite imagery and natural resource management.
Eide recognized Indonesia as a key partner in addressing climate change. Both sides pledged to continue cooperating on UN system reform and strengthening multilateralism.
