He highlighted Makassar's connectivity to major trade routes through the Indonesia Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) II, including Australia and Asia, as well as its advantages of having international ports and airports. He emphasized Makassar's role as a gateway for logistics, services, and workforce movement.
The Makassar regional government is promoting a business-friendly environment through Smart City-based administration and policies. Following a temporary slowdown in investment in '24, foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic investment increased in '25, leading to a recovery in investment performance. Major investor countries include Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Japan.
