LG will unveil a bipedal humanoid robot equipped with Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the first quarter of next year. It is the first joint result combining the component and manufacturing capabilities of major affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Innotek and LG Energy Solution with Nvidia's physical AI technology.
Starting with humanoid development, the two companies will expand the scope of cooperation to AI factories and self-driving cars. The plan goes beyond a simple technology partnership: they intend to jointly develop AI solutions that can be used at actual industrial sites and to take the lead in setting global market standards.

The first result is a bipedal humanoid. LG is developing a next-generation humanoid applying Nvidia's robot AI technology, targeting an unveiling in the first quarter of next year.
The humanoid will carry Nvidia's high-performance computing platform 'Jetson Thor'. Also applied are 'Isaac GR00T', an open foundation model responsible for the robot's reasoning and actions, and 'Halos for Robotics', which supports physical safety and system security.
Core components from LG affiliates go into the hardware. LG Electronics supplies the actuators responsible for the robot's joints and movement, and LG Innotek supplies the sensors that perceive the surrounding environment. LG Energy Solution takes charge of the robot battery.
Within this year LG will put its wheeled robot 'LG CLOiD' into the LG Electronics washing machine plant in Tennessee, USA, to begin field validation at a manufacturing site. It plans to reflect the data secured on site in humanoid development and then expand the scope of application to global production facilities and to household and commercial spaces.
It will also build a data infrastructure using LG CNS's robot platform 'PhysicalWorks'. The policy is to realize a 'physical AI data factory' that repeatedly collects and generates data at actual sites and then trains and validates on it.
