Bintan has long been an easy island escape from Singapore, and Mövenpick is giving travellers another reason to make the short trip across the water. Newly opened on the island’s northern coast, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon is a 408-room beachfront resort that brings accommodation, dining, recreation, golf and wellness under one roof.

The rooms are designed with longer stays in mind, ranging from Deluxe and Premium Terrace Rooms to Junior, Executive, Ambassador and Presidential Suites. Each comes with a private balcony or terrace, with views stretching across the gardens or towards the sea.

If there is one thing the resort does not lack, it is somewhere to eat. Port 19 handles breakfast, lunch and dinner with Indonesian, Asian and international dishes, while Yokatta Izakaya & Bar focuses on Japanese favourites including sushi, udon and yakitori. For something more casual, Klon-Tong Deli looks back to Bintan in the 1980s through its selection of pastries, ice cream, coffee and local specialities, while the Recreation Village Sports Lounge is set up for food and live sports.

The beach brings another side of the resort to life. Soñada Beach Club occupies two levels and serves Pan-Asian and Italian dishes alongside cocktails, with cabanas, a pool and weekend DJ sessions adding to the setting. At the Ocean Pool Bar, guests can stay in swim mode while picking up drinks and light bites, and there is also the daily Chocolate Hour for an afternoon pause over Mövenpick’s signature chocolate treats.

Away from the dining tables, the Recreation Village gives guests a reason to get moving. Yoga and Pilates sessions, a fitness centre, sports and organised activities sit alongside swimming pools, kayaking and paddleboarding. Families can also drop younger guests at Little Birds Club, which has indoor and outdoor play areas as well as arts, crafts and interactive activities.

Golf is another major draw, with guests able to access Bintan Lagoon International Golf and its two 18-hole courses by Jack Nicklaus and Ian Baker-Finch. Those in need of a quieter afternoon can head to Shantara Spa & Wellness for massages, reflexology, facials and other treatments, followed by time in the sauna or steam room.

The resort also has a practical side, particularly for larger groups. More than 2,000 square metres of event space includes a 900-square-metre Grand Ballroom, with additional rooms and outdoor areas available for conferences, incentive trips, weddings and private celebrations.

Whether that means a family day at the pool, a round of golf, dinner by the beach or a corporate gathering, the idea is to give guests enough choice to make their own Bintan stay.
