The preservation plan for relics related to the Seun 4 district redevelopment project in front of Seoul's Jongmyo Shrine is scheduled to be reviewed by the Cultural Heritage Committee. Although excavation surveys from 2022 to 2024 confirmed Joseon Dynasty era Immun (gate) and drainage facilities, which are academically valuable buried cultural assets, a concrete preservation plan was not submitted, resulting in a 'postponement' decision. Seoul Housing & Urban Development Corporation (SH) proposed a plan to relocate the positions of major buried cultural assets and create an underground cultural heritage plaza, but it is difficult to predict the outcome of the Cultural Heritage Committee's review. Recently, SH was reported to the police for conducting drilling without permission and faced calls from Seoul City for cancellation of the project permit. Conflicts continue as the Jongmyo Shrine is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and various issues, including building height, have been raised regarding the Seun 4 district redevelopment project.
