The National Assembly is scheduled to hold a plenary session of the Legislative and Judicial Committee at 2 pm on August 24th in Yeouido, Seoul. FSC Chairman Lee Eok-won will attend the plenary session of the Legislative and Judicial Committee this afternoon following his participation in the Budget Settlement Special Committee's comprehensive policy inquiry at 10 am that day.
Previously, the government announced in the 'Economic Growth Strategy for 2026' jointly released by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Financial Services Commission last month, and in the Cheong Wa Dae work report, that it plans to complete the legislation of the Digital Asset Basic Act in the latter half of this year.
Currently, there are 10 pending bills related to digital assets and stablecoins in the National Assembly. These bills were initiated by Rep. Min Byung-deok of the Democratic Party on June 11th last year, followed by Reps. Ando-geol, Kim Hyun-jung, Lee Kang-il, and Park Sang-hyeok of the Democratic Party, and Reps. Kim Eun-hye, Kim Jae-seop, Choi Bo-yun, Lee Seong-kwon, and Kim Sung-won of People Power.

Rep. Ando-geol of the Democratic Party said in an interview, "It is desirable for the issuance structure of won stablecoins to be a combined structure of 50%+1 share held by banks and 34% held by fintech."
