In recent years, retro hardware reissues have been making a comeback, faithfully recreating classic machines down to the last detail.
Recently, we've seen new takes on classics that embrace different aesthetics. The latest example is a beloved Commodore 64 that has been completely transformed with design language inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.
The Commodore 77 replaces the iconic beige "breadbox" design of this computer with a weathered yellow, making it look like something straight out of Night City. Other aesthetic elements include a metal plate on the right side of the keyboard, neon power lights, graffiti on the back of the box, and subtle LED lighting at the bottom.
The Commodore 77 package includes an original demo created from scratch for the Commodore 64 by Polish C64 demo group Arise. It also features an original soundtrack composed by LukHash, who is best known for creating albums using only Commodore 64 hardware.
This unique demo comes on a cartridge called "Arasaka," named after the influential megacorporation in the game's universe. The cartridge design is inspired by "shards" from Cyberpunk 2077.
To provide users with a complete immersive experience, the Commodore 77 also includes a revised user interface and a Cyberpunk color scheme applied to a direct input BASIC program. It also comes with a custom-themed BASIC 2.0 boot screen.
However, getting your hands on this unique crossover product won't be cheap. It will cost $377. The Commodore 77 is currently available for pre-order.
