The government is revising the child support system and will integrate support for children born from July 1 next year into 'Child Welcome Support' and 'Basic Child Allowance'. The Child Welcome Support provides 10 million won for the first child, 12 million won for the second child, and 15 million won for the third or more children. An additional 5 million won will be paid to children residing in preferential areas. The Basic Child Allowance pays 200,000 won per month (100,000 won in cash, 100,000 won in gift certificates) from 0 to under 13 years old, and there is additional support for children in preferential areas and children in family childcare. This revision is expected to expand the support scale compared to the existing system and strengthen the necessary support during the parenting process.
