Ismail Sabri Yaakob, former Prime Minister of Malaysia, was charged with failing to report assets worth nearly US$40 million to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. He was accused of violating Section 36(2) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act and pleaded not guilty. The alleged unreported assets include money in various currencies, gold bars, and silver. If found guilty, Ismail Sabri faces a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of RM100,000. This is not the first case involving Ismail Sabri; he was previously named a suspect in a corruption investigation related to government funds worth RM700 million.
