
August Korea exports exceeded $90 billion for three consecutive months thanks to the semiconductor boom. In particular, semiconductor exports reached $46.7 billion, setting a new record high for the month.
According to the 'August 2026 Export and Import Trends' released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 1st, last month's exports recorded $98.25 billion, an increase of 68.7% compared to the same month last year. Imports increased by 22.5% to $63.51 billion.
The trade balance surplus was $34.75 billion, exceeding $300 billion for three consecutive months. The cumulative trade balance surplus from January to August was $202.5 billion, an increase of $162.2 billion compared to last year. The average daily exports, considering the number of operating days, also increased by 72.5% to $4.47 billion, exceeding $4 billion for four consecutive months. In the ranking of monthly export amounts in history, August ranked third after June ($102 billion, 1st) and July ($99 billion, 2nd).
Semiconductor exports increased by 209.0% to $46.65 billion, setting a new record high for the month.
