Off the coast of Busan, a tugboat named A capsized, resulting in one fatality and six missing persons. On the afternoon of the 2nd, while towing a merchant vessel, the A capsized off the coast of Olleukdo and sank completely within about two hours. The Coast Guard, Navy, Busan Fire Department, and other agencies are searching for the missing persons using 19 vessels, unmanned submersibles, and aircraft, including nighttime searches. However, strong winds and currents are making the search difficult. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization's Maritime Search and Rescue Manual, the maximum survival time for missing persons in a maritime accident is over 40 hours when the water temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius. Therefore, authorities are continuing active search efforts.
