The National Tax Service recently selected 10 companies that repeatedly engaged in bid rigging by mobilizing ghost companies in public bidding for wildfire damage restoration over the past six years as targets of tax audits. These companies are suspected of embezzling about 70 billion won through fraudulent tax invoices, fabricated cost accounting, and using a total of 41 ghost companies. They succeeded in winning bids more than 260 times through a method called 'locust bidding' and used methods such as relocating their business sites several times to avoid regional restrictions on bidding regulations. The National Tax Service emphasized that it will ensure punishment if the requirements under the Tax Criminal Punishment Act are met.
