What Makes the Klipsch Compact Subwoofers Special?

Klipsch's RP•1200SW, RP•1400SW, and RP•1600SW utilize large front-firing aeroport slot ports in their bass reflex cabinets. The new CSW models ditch the port entirely for a sealed acoustic suspension enclosure.

But there's no free lunch in acoustics.

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements, but the specs suggest that the compact models sacrifice much more in terms of maximum output than low-frequency extension.

The SVS SB•2000 Pro will likely be the strongest direct competitor to the RP•1200CSW at $849.99. It also uses a sealed 12-inch configuration, delivers a 550W RMS amp, and offers a compact enclosure suitable for both 2-channel systems and home theaters where floor space is important.
SVS also provides extensive DSP tuning through its smartphone app, including parametric EQ, room gain compensation, polarity, crossover settings, and presets, which Clipsh doesn't offer.
Clipsh takes a more traditional approach and counters with the WA•2 wireless option and its claim of a 17 Hz low-frequency lower limit. HSU is less about aesthetically matching or blending into your living room and more about extracting the best performance per dollar. That's been the company's long game for years, and the ULS•15 MK2 is particularly relevant for buyers who care more about bass performance than whether their subwoofer matches the copper trim of their speakers.
RSL Speedwoofer 12S
The RSL Speedwoofer 12S, priced at $885, presents a very different challenge to Klipsch than the $849.99 RP•1200CSW.
RSL employs a 12-inch driver, a 500W RMS / 1,550W peak Class D amplifier, and instead of a sealed enclosure, a rear-vented compression guide slot port system.
