I'm asking because a non-contact accident happened on Saturday. I'm wondering if this type of situation happens commonly.
The accident occurred as follows: A Genesis vehicle in lane 1 was slowly coming to a stop. Because there were many illegally parked vehicles, I was moving slowly from the left end of lane 2 when the Genesis vehicle entered without even using a turn signal, and while it wasn't a sudden stop, I wasn't expecting it to enter the fire hydrant no-parking zone on the right side of lane 2. During the process of stopping, I tilted to the side and hit a parked BMW vehicle, damaging the vehicle's fender.
First, I reported to the police, and the police just noted the accident circumstances. The lady in the Genesis vehicle called Hyundai Marine Insurance. Before I went riding, I hadn't turned on my action cam, and the BMW's dashcam wasn't recording, but they say they will contact me after checking the dashcam footage from the Genesis vehicle.
Has this type of situation happened before, or have you experienced a similar case? Anyway, there was no bicycle path besides the sidewalk, so I was on the road.
