Donald Trump, U.S. President
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on the 21st (local time) that he would launch more powerful airstrikes on Iran if Iran does not stop Hezbollah, a pro-Iran armed faction in Lebanon.
President Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that day, "Iran must immediately stop its proxy forces in Lebanon (Hezbollah), which receive high levels of financial support, from causing problems."
He added, "If not, we will strike Iran again very forcefully just as we did last week, and the strikes will be even stronger."
The "proxy forces in Lebanon" mentioned by President Trump refers to Hezbollah.
President Trump's such threat is interpreted as pressuring Iran to restrain Hezbollah based on the judgment that Hezbollah's provocation of Israel causes Israel to continue airstrikes on Lebanon, which negatively impacts the ceasefire memorandum of understanding (MOU) concluded between the United States and Iran and subsequent ongoing peace negotiations.
