The second regular session of the 22nd National Assembly has been underway for over 40 days, but the assembly has yet to normalize due to disagreements between the ruling and opposition parties regarding the composition of parliamentary committees. The Democratic Party of Korea is pressing the People Power Party by claiming sole occupancy of the standing committee chair position, while the People Power Party is demanding a concession on the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee. Amidst this dispute, the Democratic Party is pushing forward with the processing of an amendment bill to the Act on Special Investigations, while the People Power Party plans to counter with a filibuster. Furthermore, conflicts between the ruling and opposition parties persist over issues such as the abolition of the prosecution's supplementary investigative powers and the recommendation rights for special prosecutors by the National Election Commission. The People Power Party is planning to form a task force to address urgent matters if negotiations on the composition of the assembly fail.
