Four candidates, Kim Moon-kwon, Kim Sung-soo, Kim Ye-young, and Kim Jung-jung, were recommended as successors to Lee Hung-koo, a Supreme Court Justice who will retire on September 7th. The Supreme Court Justice Candidate Recommendation Committee submitted a total of four candidates, including Kim Ye-young, Senior Judge, one of the two female candidates, to Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae. In this candidate selection process, there was a difference of opinion between the presidential office and the judiciary, resulting in the failure to recommend a successor to former Supreme Court Justice Noh Tae-ak last March. Therefore, there is a possibility that two candidates, including Lee Hung-koo's successor and Noh Tae-ak's successor, will be coordinated and recommended simultaneously. If both candidates are appointed, it will be the first appointment of a Supreme Court Justice since President Yoon Suk-yeol took office.
