The 31 calligraphy works of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun, an independence activist, containing the phrase "Manchukuo Public Law is Not Equal to a Cannon," have returned from Japan to Korea. The calligraphy is interpreted as Ahn Jung-geun's emphasis on the power of cannons while revealing the limitations of Manchukuo Public Law before his martyrdom. The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Overseas Cultural Heritage Foundation will hold a press conference at Deoksugung Palace, Jungmyeongjeon in Seoul on August 13th to explain the repatriation process and key features of the calligraphy. Dr. Ahn Jung-geun assassinated Ito Hirobumi in 1909 and was sentenced to death. He left many writings before his execution. Currently, there are a total of 31 calligraphic works by Dr. Ahn Jung-geun designated as treasures, including works that quote passages from classics such as "Analects" and "Records of the Grand Historian," and writings that express his feelings or point out changes in the world.
