Ecopro Group founder, 이동채, said that the investment in the Indonesian nickel smelter (BNSI) aims to build a core resource supply chain. As the electric vehicle market grows and nickel demand increases, Ecopro seeks to secure a stable nickel supply by securing a controlling stake in BNSI. The BNSI smelter is scheduled to start mass production in the second quarter of next year, and Ecopro emphasized that this project will also contribute to the establishment of the Korean electric vehicle value chain. Ecopro has already secured nickel supply rights in Indonesia, and plans to expand its urban mining business along with the investment in BNSI. EcoproBM resolved a paid-in capital increase in June to raise funds for the BNSI stake investment.
