Musical actor Nam Kyung-joo will face a citizen's trial in November on charges of sexually assaulting his disciple. Nam argued that the main issue was the existence of a protective supervisory relationship between the defendant and the victim, and that he wanted to be judged by a jury. On the other hand, the victim's side pointed out that a citizen's trial might not perfectly protect the victim and called for careful consideration. The court decided to proceed with a citizen's trial, accepting Nam's opinion. The trial is scheduled to take place on November 27th and 30th. Nam Kyung-joo is accused of sexually assaulting a female disciple at his residence in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in December last year. Hongik University dismissed him from his position last March.
