Recently, cases of foreigners receiving pensions with '1 month subscription + 119 months deferred payment' have become controversial, but according to a comprehensive survey by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, there were only three such cases, and only one overseas Korean residing in Korea actually received the pension. Most applicants for deferred payments were confirmed to have resided in Korea during the deferred payment period. Accordingly, the government has prepared measures to strengthen the requirements for foreigners' deferred payments, introduce the principle of reciprocity, and strengthen the management of overseas recipients.
